We are off to a great start!
/We are looking forward to a very busy Term 1. We want to start the year by ensuring that all our students and their whãnau really understand that Kia Aroha College is a very special place to be. We hope you will check out our new look website and download our School App so you will know everything that is happening. Some of this information, and more, is in our first newsletter but most of our communication will be digital this year. You can also check on our school calendar on the website.
To demonstrate our learning in action we only have to look at what we will be covering this term! Firstly, the ASB Polyfest from 13-16 March where all our students will be performing! Huge thanks to all the teachers and parents, tutors, and students who put a huge effort into these performances. Practices all over the school at the moment are intense! Check out our Facebook page for updates about performance times! We are hosting the Māori stage jointly with James Cook High School - huge work, but really worth it!
In our other learning our students will be working through our Designated Character, Our Graduate Profiles and our Learning Model and will be sharing all of that learning with you. You can also read about it yourselves under the Learning at Kia Aroha menu on our website. We believe that understanding what makes our place special also allows our students and families to appreciate that our high expectations around outcomes, effort, commitment, attendance and uniform all come from us wanting the very best for our children. Senior Students will be needing at least 25 NCEA credits by the end of the term. They should have 10 Performing Arts / Dance credits (from their Polyfest performances), at least 5 Maths credits, 5 English credits and 5 Language credits (Te Reo Mãori, Samoan Language or Lea Faka Tonga) by the end of the term. This will ensure they are on track with their credits.
